Rapid Maxillary Expanders allow for rapid palatal expansion. activated by the patient/parent by turning the key. The key is turned creating tension stimulating bone growth and causing the separation of the mid-palatal suture.

The Leaf Expander is a non-compliant option for palatal expansion as the appliance is only activated at appointments with the clinician. The Leaf Expander is available with either 6mm or 9mm expansion capacity and with a force of either 450g or 900g.

The NiTi leaf springs are predetermined, calibrated, and provide constant force. The appliance is compressed and then once fitted into place, the clinician activates it by removing the key which allows the NiTi leaf springs to decompress and expand. Following this, the appliance is reactivated by the clinician, following the leaf expander protocol.

Connectors

Connectors allow spaces for the teeth to erupt.

Additional palatal arms can be incorporated to generate extra force to expand during arch expansion.

Spikes were added to each connector to act as a habit breaker. These were placed to generate rotational movement and eruption.

With the use of Leone’s innovative software, we are excited to offer 3D-printed palatal expander devices. Our technicians can design the appliance which can then be validated by the clinician using Leone Designer Viewer software. Once the design is confirmed the appliance is printed, creating a well-contoured and easy-to-fit appliance.

For standard RME cases, please send us an upper stl file or impression, band size, and design. Please note that it is recommended that a slightly larger band size is used as this allows for ease of insertion when fitting the appliance.

For 3D printed RME cases please send us an upper stl file or impression, the design will be sent to you to view on Leone Designer Viewer once complete.

The TPA is an expansion appliance made from wire which can be used to expand the arch and rotate the molars.

TELESCOPIC EXPANDERS

A brand-new addition to the range, Telescopic Expanders are now available in 10 mm, 14 mm, and 18 mm sizes.

Designed with a compact profile, they are ideal for cases with a narrow palate.

Activation is achieved using a wrench rather than a traditional key, offering greater control and ease of use. These expanders are exclusively available as part of the Leone digital workflow.

Williams appliance

A lower RME-style appliance fitted with a compact Leone expansion screw; the Williams Appliance is specifically designed to facilitate lower arch expansion.

The screw is angled to allow straightforward patient activation, enhancing compliance and ease of use.

Fitted using the same protocol as standard RMEs, it integrates seamlessly into existing clinical workflows.

DIGITAL TPAs

Available as both intrusion TPAs and TAD-based designs, these appliances are digitally fabricated to offer enhanced control and consistency.

Unlike traditional TPAs, the stiffer nature of 3D printed frameworks can influence appliance behaviour. This difference is considered in the design phase to ensure predictable performance.

Each device includes a standard 6 mm palatal clearance to accommodate intrusion mechanics, while loop positioning is adapted according to the planned TAD placement.

LEONE DISTALISER with expansion

A compact, cost-effective appliance that combines distal movement with rapid expansion in a single design.

The device operates using just one implant site, simplifying placement and reducing chair time. Delivered via the Infinitas single-visit protocol, it is compatible with yellow (6 mm) or green (9 mm) Infinitas implants. Only available in rapid expansion variants, this appliance offers an efficient solution for dual-direction treatment.
