MAINTAIN
Maintain is the easy-to-fit, convenient dual arch retention system developed by consultant orthodontist David Waring.
The maintain system consists of 3 elements:
a bonded retainer, thermoformed transfer jig, and an additional thermoformed retainer. These 3 stages combine to offer the patient maximum retention and permanent support.
BONDED RETAINER
The bonded retainer is made from Straight 8 Plus wire, this is a flattened, braided stainless steel soft wire that provides maximum surface contact with the occlusal surface.

The bonded retainer is attached to a thermoformed transfer jig acts as a guide when placing the retainer and allows for full visibility and freedom of both hands for passive placement. Once the bonded retainer has been fitted, the transfer jig can be used as a removable retainer.
additional thermoformed retainer
The Maintain system is completed by an additional thermoformed retainer which can be worn at night for reinforcement as it fits comfortably over the bonded retainer. Maintain is available as a single arch or a dual arch.
Impressions or scans can be taken prior to debond. This means that the maintain system can be manufactured and delivered to the clinician ready to fit the complete maintain retainer system at the de-bond appointment. This means less time is spent chairside and the patient can feel reassured that their teeth are retained as soon as their braces are removed.
